World’s Largest Duty-free Shopping Center to Open in Sanya

The Sanya Haitang Bay International Shopping Center is set to open in Sanya, a resort city on South China’s tourist island of Hainan, at the end of the year. The center will boast more than 750,000 square feet of space including a business center, duty-free shopping, entertainment, cultural exhibits, and more. It will become the world’s largest duty-free gathering of top international brands, in the world’s largest duty free shop.

With competition from the new Sanya shopping area, it is predicted that the duty-free industry throughout China will improve overall. In the meantime, the Sanya Haitang Bay International Shopping Center is expected to be one of the defining elements of the Hainan Islands and a vital tourist destination.
