Beijing Plans for Second International Airport

Beijing International Airport is the second busiest airport in the world, handling more than 73 million passengers, but is still close to reaching its maximum capacity due to the huge demand for travel to and from the region. Taking this into account, China plans to spend approximately $14 billion to build a new airport to handle the increasing air traffic in the region. Slated to open in 2018, the new airport will have four runways in its first phase and potentially three more in the future. To read more about the new airport development, click here.
