Hutong Tour

Mostly developed in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, Hutong refers to narrow streets and lanes that characterized old Chinese neighborhoods. Beijing has thousands of hutongs in areas around the Forbidden City all preserved to showcase this part of Beijingís history and local life. Hutong tours mainly kick-off in the city by Shichahai Lake, where visitors can recreate in their minds eye water scenes from the ages and what it was like living in the residences of former princes, and worshipping at surrounding temples.
