Beijing One of Three Finalists for 2022 Winter Olympics

The International Olympic Committee announced this month the three finalists for the 2022 Winter Olympics location, with Beijing in the running along with Oslo and Almaty, Kazakhstan. Beijing successfully hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics, and hopes to be the first city to host both the winter and summer games. Beijing and the bordering city of Zhanjiakou in Hebei would host the various winter activities, utilizing some of the facilities that are already in place from the summer games. The final decision on the host city for the 2022 Olympic will be announced on July 31, 2015.
