72-Hour-Visa-Free Stay in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu for American Travelers
Transit passengers from the United States and 44 other countries who hold valid visas to the third country or region and confirmed interline ticket can stay in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu for three days and are welcome to visit anywhere in these cities during their 72-hour stays.
In Shanghai, transit passengers can apply directly for the visa-free service in the exit-and-entry department at the city’s two airports, Hongqiao (SHA) and Pudong (PVG); in Beijing, transit passengers can enter through Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK); in Guangzhou, transit passengers can enter through Baiyun International Airport (CAN); in Chengdu, transit passengers can enter through Shuangliu International Airport (CTU).
The 45 visa-free countries are:
