China Southern Adds New Route & Planes

Starting August 6, 2014, China Southern Airlines will launch a new direct flight between Guangzhou and New York. The new service will operate four times a week, departing Guangzhou’s Baiyun International Airport (CAN) every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 0140, and arriving at New York (JFK) at 0545. The return service will leave New York at 1115 and arrive in Guangzhou at 1515. The new flight will become the only direct connection between Guangzhou and New York, a major added convenience for travelers interested in visiting Guangzhou, one of the major cities in China.

New York will become China Southern’s third destination in North America following Los Angeles and Vancouver, which it serves using its Airbus A380 and B787 Dreamliner aircraft, respectively.

China Southern will receive a new fleet of B777-300ER aircraft, which will be used for the New York-Guangzhou route. The airline also has additional new B787 Dreamliners and Airbus A330-300 aircraft on order, as it moves to expand its long-haul fleet.
