Datong

Located at the northern end of Shanxi Province, and between the inner and outer Great Walls, Datong is the second largest city in Shanxi with a population of a little over 3 million people. In ancient China, Datong was a place of strategic importance and was the capital city during several dynasties. Today, visitors can appreciate the undulating Great Wall, imposing mountains, and a large number of scenic spots and historical sites that Datong offers.
