Tunxi Ancient Street
This ancient street in the center of Tunxi dates back to the Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties. Tunxi Ancient presents the charm of old towns, with special architectural designs, in the southern part of the Yangtze river. Many of the famous old shops here, such as Tongrende, opened about 120 years ago in the Qing Dynasty, and is the most remarkable one.
Xidi and Hongcun Ancient Villages
Xidi and Hongcun were ancient settlements in southern Anhui Province listed as world cultural heritage sites by UNESCO in 2000. Both have retained much of their appearance since the last century. The architectural and street design for both villages is remarkable, but perhaps most noteworthy is its complete water supply system which is indicative of advanced thinking for the times.
