Liaoning Province, called “Liao” for short, is located in northeast China, adjacent to Bohai Sea and Huanghai Sea in the south and bordered to the vast industrial base in the north. It’s made up of 14 prefecture-level cities, including two sub-provincial cities Shenyang (its capital) and Dalian.
With many coastal cities and ports, Liaoning has a solid transportation system, ranking second in the country after Jiangsu. As the only coastal province in the northeast of China, Liaoning is one of the earliest cities to be opened up in modern times; it is one of the birthplaces of the Chinese nation and civilization and is the cradle of industry development in China. It is honored as “the eldest son of the People’s Republic of China” and “the Oriental Ruhr”.
