Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN) is the fourth largest international airport in China providing direct links to 84 cities, including 60 domestic cities, four regional cities and 20 foreign cities. Its air routes cover Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, Europe and the United States.
Connected to the mainland by the transportation trunk line of the Ying-Xia (Yingtan-Xiamen) Railway Line across the Xiamen Bridge,†the city†has direct trains to most of the main cities in Fujian Province including Fuzhou, Sanming, Zhangzhou and major cities across China. There are also tourist trains between Xiamen and Wuyishan, a popular tourist destination, in peak seasons. Three long-distance bus stations make travel from Xiamen to other parts of China and Hong Kong possible.
The city’s warm climate ensures that the Xiamen Port’s well-structured water transportation network isn’t ever subject to freezing or silting because of wintery conditions. There are domestic routes to Jinmen, a Taiwanese island, and Hong Kong. The Xiamen Port consists of several port areas such as Dongdu Port Area at the west side of Xiamen Island, and Haicang and Songyu Port Areas at the south coastal area. The Ferry Dock, the Heping Dock, and the Hulishan Dock are the main passenger ports and have convenient transportation to the city center.
Xiamen Gulangyu ferry boats also carry passengers to and fro Gulangyu Islet and is the primary mode of transportation for tourists to reach Gulangyu Islet across Lujiang Strait, Jimei, Haicang, Zengying, Shima, Haicheng and back.
