Zhejiang

Zhejiang Province also known as “Zhe” has Hangzhou as its provincial capital. Zhejiang has a long history, splendid culture, and is one of the cradles of ancient Chinese civilization.

As early as 50,000 years ago, during the Palaeolithic Period, there were primitive people “Jiande people” in Zhejiang; Hemudu Culture with a 7,000-year history, Majiabang Culture with a 6,000-year history and Liangzhu Culture with a 5,000-year history existed here. Zhejiang includes seven national historical and cultural cities like Hangzhou and Shaoxing which are known as the “Home of Silk”, “Land of Fish and Rice” and “City of Cultural Relics”.

Zhejiang covers a total area of 101,800 km2 and has a population of more than 56 million people.
