Leshan Great Buddha

Feel the mighty of Leshan Great Buddha, the largest Buddha in the world

A spectacle of fabulous ambition, the 233 ft-high Leshan Great Buddha was built more than 1,200 years ago and is by some distance the world’s tallest pre-modern statue. It was carved from a cliff face, and the sheer scale of the project – particularly when you’re standing beneath a big toe and gazing upwards in awe – takes the breath away. The eighth-century imposing sculpture looks down on the confluence of three rivers and it’s the largest Buddha in the world.
