Lijiang Old Town

Around Lijiang Old Town

There’s a soft, captivating charm to Lijiang, with its valley setting, narrow cobbled streets and time-burnished wooden buildings. The old town is a jumble of criss-crossed canals and lively market squares, and its longstanding associations with the Naxi ethnic group make it one of northern Yunnan’s most interesting bases. It can become busy – get up early to make the most of the ambience.
