The China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) recently launched an advertising campaign in Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square. Featuring the theme “Beautiful China – 2017 Year of Silk Road Tourism,” the campaign was unveiled simultaneously in more than 20 countries around the world. In 2015 the total number of tourist visits between Canada and China was more than 1.2 million, and in the first three quarters of 2016 that number already surpassed one million, an increase of 15.6 percent. China has become Canada’s largest tourist destination in Asia. The “Beautiful China – 2017 Year of Silk Road Tourism” campaign will run for five weeks through the Chinese Spring Festival holiday season.
