Earlier this month, officials from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region visited North America for outreach and meetings, with the goal of inviting more Americans to visit Ningxia. On May 9, 2016 the delegation, led by Mr. Wang Heshan, Vice Governor of Ningxia and Mr. Xu Xiaoping Director-General of Tourism Administration of Ningxia, accompanied by Ms. Pan Xiaopeng, Deputy Director of CNTO New York office, held a meeting with Ms. Kelly Craighead, Executive Director, National Travel & Tourism Office and Chris Thompson, President & CEO, Brand USA. The meeting included discussion and preparation for the China – U.S. Tourism Leadership Summit, which will be held in Ningxia this September.
Earlier, on May 6, the delegation promoted the unique natural landscapes and splendid culture of Ningxia at an event named “Wild China, Magical Ningxia” in Ottawa, Canada. More than 100 guests attended the event, including Canadian Senators, government officials and representatives from tourism industry, and officials from the Chinese Embassy in Canada.
On May 10, the delegation held the “Night of Beautiful China, Amazing Ningxia” tourism presentation in Los Angeles. According to Vice Governor Wang Heshan, “Ningxia is an extremely exciting chapter of a beautiful China, ranking number 20 out of the world’s 46 must-go tourist destinations chosen by the New York Times. The rich and unique tourist resources of Ningxia strongly complement the U.S. tourism market and has a great potential for interaction.”
Finally, on May 12, the opening ceremony for the Ningxia Tourism Marketing Center in the U.S. was celebrated in Houston. The next day, the delegation went to promote Ningxia in Mexico and throughout Latin America.
