Shanghai Airport Tops the World for Visa Checks

A recent industry survey revealed that Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport has the fastest visa checks of any major airport in the world.

Airports Council International, a trade representative of the world’s airports, tested more than 100 major airports around the globe in the third quarter of 2013 and ranked Pudong first in terms of “waiting time for visa check.”

The Pudong International Airport has been China’s mainland’s busiest airport for 10 years, with approximately 70,000 passengers using the airport daily, with a record high of 95,000. Pudong utilizes an advanced electronic system to monitor passenger flow, while airport visa officers receive training every week.

China’s Beijing Capital International Airport, Longjia International Airport in Changchun, and Meilan International Airport in Haikou also made the top 10 list, receiving rankings of third, fifth and sixth in the world, respectively.
