Spend 16 days exploring southwest China in this comprehensive tour of Yunnan Province and Tibet. Highlights include the Stone Forest, Yulong Snow Mountain, the Potala Palace, and Lake Yamdrok.

Yunnan Province, located in southwest China, is a picturesque land full of natural wonders. From Kunming’s ancient petrified Stone Forest to Lijiang’s Tiger Leaping Gorge, this province is a nature lover’s dream come true. For those who love culture, Yunnan is home to 25 of China’s 56 official minorities. Immerse yourself in the colorful local life in Kunming, Dali, and Lijiang.

But Yunnan is only a precursor to the tour main destination: Tibet. Begin your time in the “roof of the world” in Lhasa, where you will visit the world famous Potala Palace. Once the home of the Dalai Lama, the palace’s 999 rooms now house Buddhist and Tibetan scripture, sculpture, and history. Then, visit Norbu Lingka, one the summer home of the Dalai Lamas. Other highlights include the bustling Barkhor Street and Sera Temple, where you can watch an animated debate on Buddhist scripture amongst the resident monks.

Your time in Tibet continues in the city of Tsetang, where you will see Lake Yamdrok, a holy lake in Tibetan Buddhism considered to be the reincarnation of a goddess. Additionally, a ferry ride on the Brahmaputra River to Samye Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet is a must.
